Acceptable Use & Community Guidelines
Last updated: 25 June 2026
Vocabest works best when everyone feels safe, respected, and free to learn out loud. These guidelines apply to everyone, students and teachers alike, across video lessons, messages, profiles, and reviews. They form part of our Terms of Use.
1. The spirit of Vocabest
Learning a language means making mistakes out loud, and that takes trust. We ask every member of the community to be kind, patient, and professional, and to treat others the way they’d want a teacher or student to treat them.
2. Respect in lessons & reviews
- Be punctual, prepared, and courteous in 1-on-1 video lessons.
- Keep feedback constructive. Reviews should be honest and based on your genuine experience, not used to threaten, defame, or pressure anyone.
- Respect differences in culture, background, accent, and ability. Everyone here is learning.
- Dress and behave appropriately on camera, as you would in any professional setting.
3. Prohibited content & behaviour
The following are not allowed anywhere on Vocabest, and may lead to immediate action:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or intimidation of any person.
- Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any protected characteristic.
- Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise harmful content, or any sexual advances toward another user.
- Sharing illegal content, or using lessons to facilitate any unlawful activity.
- Impersonating another person, misrepresenting your identity or qualifications, or creating fake reviews.
- Spam, scams, phishing, or unsolicited advertising of unrelated products or services.
- Collecting or sharing another person’s personal data without their consent.
4. Privacy & recording
Lessons are private moments between a student and a teacher. Protect each other’s privacy:
- Do not record, screenshot, or stream a lesson without the clear consent of the other participant.
- Do not share or republish any part of a lesson, message, or another user’s personal details.
- Where a minor attends with a guardian, treat their privacy with extra care.
5. No off-platform circumvention
Vocabest invests in matching, scheduling, secure payments, video, and support. To keep that sustainable, and to keep you protected, lessons booked through Vocabest should be paid for and conducted through Vocabest.
- Do not solicit or arrange to move a Vocabest relationship off-platform to avoid fees, and do not exchange contact or payment details for that purpose.
- Off-platform arrangements lose the protections of our Refunds & Cancellations policy and our dispute support.
6. Platform integrity
- Do not attempt to access accounts, data, or areas you are not authorised to use.
- Do not probe, scan, or disrupt the Platform, or attempt to bypass security or rate limits.
- Do not upload malware or use bots or scrapers to extract data from Vocabest.
- Do not abuse the free first consultation, for example by creating multiple accounts to claim it repeatedly.
7. Reporting & enforcement
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, please tell us. You can report a user, lesson, or review by contacting support@vocabest.com with as much detail as you can.
- We review reports and may warn, remove content, limit features, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts depending on the severity, in line with our Terms of Use.
- Serious matters, including threats of harm or illegal activity, may be referred to the authorities.
- We aim to enforce these rules fairly and consistently, and to support anyone affected by a violation.
