How it works for teachers
Step 1
Sign up as a teacher
Create your account and choose “I'm a teacher”. It takes less than a minute and joining is free.
Step 2
Complete your profile
Add a professional profile photo (required), a headline, a short bio, and the languages you teach and speak. Students book people, not listings, and a real face and a warm bio go a long way.
Step 3
Set your availability and rate
Open the hours that suit you and set your own hourly rate. You can change both whenever you like.
Step 4
Teach in the built-in classroom
Lessons happen right in the browser. No Zoom, no Teams, nothing to install. A “Join lesson” button appears on the booking near start time, for you and your student.
Step 5
Get paid via Stripe
Complete payout onboarding without leaving your dashboard. It's embedded, with no redirects, and Stripe pays you out after your lessons.
Your rate, your earnings
You decide what your time is worth: you set your own hourly rate and can change it any time. Vocabest takes a 20% platform fee on paid lessons, which covers secure payments, the browser classroom, and bringing students to your door. You keep the other 80%.
Example: charge $20.00/hour and you receive $16.00 per hour-long lesson.
No listing fees, no subscription. The platform fee is the only fee.
What you'll need

- At least one language you teach (English is what our students want most right now)
- An hourly rate and a short bio in your own words
- A webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection
No teaching certificate is required to apply, but experience and qualifications help your profile stand out, so mention them in your bio.
Teacher FAQ
When do I get paid?
Through Stripe, after your lessons. You complete Stripe's payout onboarding once, embedded right in your Vocabest dashboard, and earnings from paid lessons are paid out to your bank account automatically.
What equipment do I need?
A computer with a webcam and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a modern browser. The classroom is built into Vocabest, so there's no software to install.
Who are the students?
We're launching with motivated Polish speakers learning English: adults who want to speak with confidence. Teachers of other languages are welcome to join too; more student languages are coming.
Is there a fee to join?
No, joining Vocabest is free. We take a 20% platform fee on paid lessons, and that's the only fee. You keep 80% of the rate you set.
Why is a student's first consultation free?
Each student's very first consultation on Vocabest is free for them. It's a short meet-and-greet that helps you win students who stick around for paid lessons.
