Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember information between page loads and visits, for example that you are signed in. Similar technologies (such as local storage) can serve the same purpose, and we refer to them all as “cookies” here.

Cookies are usually grouped as essential (needed for the site to work) and non-essential (such as analytics or advertising). Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent.

Vocabest relies on a single essential session cookie to operate. When you sign in, we set a secure, signed cookie so that the Platform recognises you on each request and keeps your account safe.

• Purpose: authentication, keeping you logged in and protecting your account and bookings.
• Type: strictly necessary. The Platform cannot function without it, so it does not require consent.
• Properties: set as HttpOnly and Secure where supported, so it cannot be read by client-side scripts and is only sent over HTTPS.
• Lifetime: it lasts for your session and expires or is cleared when you sign out.

Vocabest does not sell your data. We use two optional tools, and neither loads unless you accept optional cookies:

• Microsoft Clarity (analytics): shows us how the Platform is used (page views, clicks, scrolls, and aggregated session replays) so we can find problems and improve it. Clarity sets cookies and similar identifiers and, by default, masks the text you type.
• Google Ads tag (advertising):lets us measure how many people who click one of our adverts go on to sign up or book a lesson, and may be used to show you relevant Vocabest adverts on Google’s network. It sets advertising cookies and identifiers through Google and DoubleClick domains.

Both are non-essential: they load only after you accept optional cookies in our consent banner. If you decline, or haven’t chosen yet, neither is loaded, no analytics or advertising cookies are set, and the full service still works. You can change your choice at any time (see Your consent choice).

Some features rely on trusted providers that may set their own cookies when you use them:

• Stripe: during checkout, Stripe may set cookies for payment processing and fraud prevention.
• Cloudflare: may set cookies to deliver video lessons and protect the Platform from malicious traffic.
• Microsoft Clarity: with your consent, sets cookies to measure how the Platform is used and record aggregated session replays, helping us improve it.
• Google:with your consent, the Google Ads tag sets cookies and identifiers (via Google and DoubleClick domains) to measure the results of our advertising and to show you relevant Vocabest adverts on Google’s network.

These providers use cookies under their own privacy and cookie policies. See our Privacy Policy for who we share data with and why.

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view stored cookies, block them, or clear them when you close the browser.

• Blocking the essential session cookie will sign you out and prevent you from using features that require an account.

Where we offer non-essential cookies, you can set your preference using the consent banner shown on the Platform, and update it at any time. Declining non-essential cookies does not affect the essential session cookie, which is always required to keep you signed in.

If we change how we use cookies, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Where required, we will ask for fresh consent.
